(“Chemopharm”), an Everlife company and leading laboratory supplies and IVD distributor in Malaysia, has announced the completion of its investment of another Malaysian medical equipment distributor, Medigene Sdn. Bhd. (“Medigene”). Founded in Oct 2000, Medigene supplies laboratories nationwide with a wide range of products mainly in the Life Sciences and Microbiology segments. The company currently represents over 10 principals including globally recognized brands such as Biomerieux and Eppendorf. Medigene currently employs over 40 people and provides their principals with a full suite of services including sales, marketing, service and regulatory support.
Medigene’s product portfolio is highly complementary to Chemopharm’s, with both companies currently providing different products within similar segments. The acquisition is seen as highly strategic with customers being able to benefit from a wider product selection from both companies while leveraging the existing infrastructure. Principals would also benefit from the wider reach and coverage of the combined companies. The combined portfolio puts Chemopharm on the path of being the leading IVD and Life Sciences distributor in Malaysia with one of the most comprehensive portfolios in the country.
