MetaSystems specializes in automated scanning and imaging for cytogenetics, cancer genetics, toxicology, pathology, forensic sciences, and other applications. Founded in 1986, the company started with the development of an automatic metaphase finding system. To meet the growing demand for high-quality DNA FISH probes, a dedicated DNA probe department was established in 1997 at MetaSystems. This led to the launch of groundbreaking products such as mFISH and mBAND. Over the years, MetaSystems continued to expand its portfolio, introducing whole chromosome painting probes (XCP), mFISH probes for mouse (21XMouse), and many more. In 2009, the company launched its XL portfolio of locus-specific FISH probes, tailored for hematology applications. To address the increasing demand for probes, MetaSystems Probes was founded in 2016 as a sister company of MetaSystems exclusively managing the probes business.
